The Practical New Honda Pilot

The Pilot remains a favorite among SUV owners secondary to its spacious seven-passenger interior and fuel-efficiency. Honda also equips the vehicle with a long list of standard safety and rugged capability features, which makes the Pilot outshine competitors.

Performance

The latest Pilot models come with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine that generates up to 280 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission. But, the EXL, Touring, and Elite trim levels come with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission. However, choosing a model with AWD drops the mileage slightly. When equipped with a towing package, the Pilot hauls up to 5,000 pounds.

The Pilot LX comes with push-button engine start and a five-inch infotainment display screen along with a seven-speaker stereo. Connectivity is achieved via Bluetooth. Occupants also get two USB ports. Standard safety features include:

The climate control is automatic and regulates three zones. The infotainment system has an eight-inch touchscreen and integrates with smartphones via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Added safety features include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warnings for your commute from Blue Ash to St. Bernard.

The EX-L adds an electronically powered liftgate, a moonroof, and power-adjustable front seats. The interior has leather upholstery.

The Touring level comes with a hands-free electronically powered liftgate and a 10-speaker stereo system. The vehicle also serves as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Upgrades also include front and rear parking sensors.

The Elite models add second-row captain's chairs and ventilated front seats along with a wireless charging station.

The unique Black Edition shares amenities with the Elite level in addition to having a black theme inside and out.
